Tumor Board Collaboration Platform
Prepare, present and record multidisciplinary cancer case reviews in one place
Overview
The Tumor Board Collaboration Platform brings each patient's pathology, imaging, clinical notes, staging and molecular results into a single case view for the multidisciplinary conference. Coordinators build the agenda, specialists prepare their part ahead of time, and the board's recommendation is recorded with who attended and what was discussed. The record supports your cancer program's accreditation reporting and goes back to the patient's chart.
The problem it solves
Tumor boards depend on many specialists preparing the same case from different systems. Coordinators chase case submissions by email, pathologists and radiologists pull up studies one by one during the meeting, and presenters build slides by copying from the chart. Recommendations end up in meeting minutes or a note that is hard to find later, and showing an accreditor which cases were discussed prospectively, who attended and whether staging and guidelines were addressed means assembling spreadsheets after the fact.
Who it’s for
- Hospital and health system cancer programs that run multidisciplinary tumor boards
- Tumor board coordinators and oncology nurse navigators
- Medical, surgical and radiation oncologists who present and discuss cases
- Pathologists and radiologists who review cases before the conference
- Cancer registrars and program leaders who report to accrediting bodies
How the work flows
- SubmitA clinician or navigator submits a case for a specific board, with the clinical question they want answered. The coordinator accepts it onto an agenda.
- PrepareThe platform gathers the case's pathology reports, imaging studies, notes, labs and molecular results. Each specialist prepares and signs off their section before the meeting.
- PresentDuring the conference, the case view is shared on screen and in person or online, and attendance is recorded for each case.
- RecordThe board's recommendation is written, confirmed by the chair and sent to the treating team and the patient's chart. Follow-up and registry data are tracked.
What it does
- Single case view
- Pathology, imaging, notes, labs, molecular results, staging and treatment history for the case on one screen.
- Case submission
- A structured request with the clinical question, so cases arrive with the information the board needs.
- Agenda builder
- Conference agendas by board and date, with case order, presenters and readiness status for each case.
- Specialist preparation
- Pathologists and radiologists mark the findings, slides and images to show, and sign off their section before the meeting.
- Draft case summaries
- The platform proposes a case summary from the record, which the presenter edits and approves before it is shown.
- Imaging and slide launch
- Key studies and digital slides open in your existing PACS and pathology viewers directly from the case.
- Staging and guidelines
- Fields for clinical and pathologic stage and for the guideline your board referenced, recorded with each case.
- Clinical trial consideration
- Records whether trials were discussed and which ones, and can pass candidates to Moraph's Clinical Trial Patient Recruitment App.
- Recommendation record
- The board's recommendation written, confirmed by the chair and sent to the chart as a note.
- Attendance tracking
- Attendance by person and specialty for each conference and case, in person or online.
- Accreditation reporting
- Cases presented, prospective discussion, stage and guideline documentation and attendance, for your cancer committee's reports.
- Audit trail
- Every view, edit, sign-off and recommendation is logged with the person and time.
Who uses it
- Tumor board coordinator
- Accepts cases, builds agendas, runs the meeting and records attendance
- Presenting physician
- Submits and presents cases, edits the case summary and confirms readiness
- Pathologist or radiologist
- Prepares and signs off pathology or imaging findings for each case
- Board chair
- Confirms recommendations and oversees the board's cases and attendance
- Board member
- Views agenda cases and contributes to the discussion
- Cancer registrar
- Uses conference data for registry abstraction and accreditation reports
Integrations
- Electronic health record
- Notes, problem lists, medications, labs and treatment history read from your EHR by FHIR or HL7 v2, and recommendations returned as a note.
- Laboratory and pathology system
- Pathology reports, including synoptic data where your laboratory produces it, and molecular results.
- PACS and imaging
- Imaging reports and study lists, with key studies opened in your PACS or enterprise viewer by link from the case.
- Digital pathology viewer
- Where you have whole-slide imaging, slides open in your digital pathology viewer from the case.
- Cancer registry
- Conference data made available to your registry software for abstraction and reporting.
- Video conferencing
- Conferences held online through the meeting service you already use, with the meeting link on the agenda.
- Single sign-on
- Staff sign in through your identity provider (SAML or OpenID Connect).
- Work API
- Conference, case and recommendation data available to your data warehouse and to Moraph's Clinical Trial Patient Recruitment App.
Security
- Single sign-on
- Staff sign in through your identity provider, so your password and multi-factor policies apply.
- Role-based access
- Access follows role and board membership, so people see only the cases they are preparing or discussing.
- Business associate agreement
- Moraph signs a business associate agreement with you, because the platform handles protected health information.
- Encryption and keys
- Client data is encrypted, with keys Moraph staff cannot use without explicit, time-bound authorization.
- Complete audit trail
- Every view, edit, sign-off, recommendation and export is logged with the person and time, and cannot be edited.
- Data residency
- Data stays in the hosting region you choose: the United States, the United Kingdom or Australia.
Hosting and deployment
- Moraph cloud
- Hosted and operated by Moraph in the United States region. United Kingdom and Australia regions are available for organizations outside the US.
- Dedicated environment
- A single-tenant environment for organizations whose policies require isolation, scoped in the proposal.
- With a managed service
- Optionally run alongside Moraph managed services for clinical collaboration, single sign-on or integration engine support.
Implementation
- Program and boards
- We set up each board, its disease sites, required specialties, meeting schedule and submission form with your cancer program leaders.
- Clinical interfaces
- We connect to your EHR, laboratory and pathology systems and PACS, and agree what data each case view pulls in. We need interface specifications and contacts from each system's team.
- Viewer launch
- Imaging and digital slide links are tested with your radiologists and pathologists in the rooms and online tools used for conferences.
- Recommendation note
- The recommendation template and where it lands in the chart are agreed with your clinical documentation team.
- Registry and reporting
- We map conference data to your registry and accreditation reports with your cancer registrars.
- Pilot board and rollout
- We start with one board, review a few conferences with the coordinator and chair, and then add further boards.
What it doesn’t do
- It does not make treatment decisions. Recommendations are made by your board and the treating physician remains responsible for the patient's care.
- Draft case summaries are proposals. The presenter must review and approve each summary, and the source record remains authoritative.
- It is not a PACS or a diagnostic viewer. Images and digital slides stay in and open from your existing systems.
- Pathology and imaging reports are not amended in the platform; corrections are made in the laboratory or radiology system.
- It is not cancer registry software. It provides conference data to your registry; abstraction and submission are done by your registrars.
- Accreditation reports present your data; meeting accreditation standards is your cancer program's responsibility.
- The case view is only as complete as the source systems connected during implementation.
- Online conferences use the meeting service you already have; the platform does not host video.
How to evaluate it
- Prepare a past conference's agenda in a test environment and compare the effort with your current process
- Check that the case view pulls in the pathology, imaging and notes your board actually uses
- Open key images and slides from the case in the room and online tools you use for conferences
- Review a draft case summary against the chart and see how the presenter edits and approves it
- Run the cases presented and attendance reports and compare them with what your registrars prepare today
- Confirm who can see a case before and after the conference
Questions
Does the platform store our images and slides?
No. Imaging stays in your PACS and digital slides in your pathology image system. The platform links to them and opens them in your existing viewers.
Who writes the case summary?
The platform proposes a draft from the record, and the presenting physician edits and approves it. Nothing is shown to the board without that approval.
Can boards meet online?
Yes. Conferences can be in person, online through the meeting service you already use, or both, and attendance is recorded either way.
Will you sign a business associate agreement?
Yes. Moraph signs a business associate agreement with each healthcare client, because the platform handles protected health information.
How is it priced?
As a subscription, usually based on the number of boards or sites, with implementation charged separately. See Working with Moraph for what drives a quotation.
Is there an accessibility conformance report?
Ask for one through the procurement request form at /how-to-buy/request, naming the version you are evaluating.
